About
Hi, and welcome to my portfolio. I'm Michal Kapral, a Toronto-based editor, writer and digital media producer specializing in news, travel, sports, fitness and entertainment. My media philosophy is simple: It's all about telling compelling stories.
My writing journey began at the age of 10, when I penned a 63-page science fiction novel called "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" to maintain my English skills during a year of all-French school in Belgium.
In high school, I shifted my ambitions to film. During a nine-hour drive to visit my grandparents, I wrote the screenplay for a horror comedy film, "Bananarama," about bananas taking over the world, which I later shot and directed on a budget of $40.
I studied journalism at the University of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and have covered pretty much the entire spectrum of media in my journalism career, from TV and radio to web and blogging to magazines and digital production.
